Inositol
It is a member of the vitamin B complex. Not a true vitamin because the body can manufacture it.
Functions of Inositol
- Is a fat-solubilizing agent.
- Works with choline: helps to transport fat from the liver.
- Helps to control blood cholesterol levels.
Food Sources of Inositol
Lecithin, beef heart, beef liver, wheatgerm, soya, eggs, citrus fruits, wholegrains, nuts.
Deficiency of Inositol
No specific symptoms
Recommended daily allowance for Inositol
